Controlling individual workstations

The recommended method of controlling workstations is via pools. However, sometimes it may be required to control a specific instance, for troubleshooting reasons for example.

Navigating to the workstation page

1. Login to the Lens Portal

2. In the left sidebar, expand the Workstations menu and then select the Overview option

3. In the menu, under the Overview section, select the Workstations option

Starting workstations

1. From the list, select all the workstations you would like to start

2. Open the Power dropdown menu

3. Select the Startup workstation option

4. In the Start workstations modal, confirm the workstations you wish to start are correct and click the Start button

5. The selected workstations will be started shortly

Stop workstations

Stopping a workstation will attempt to gracefully shut down the workstation if the platform supports this.

1. From the list, select all the workstations you would like to stop

2. Open the Power dropdown menu

3. Select the Shutdown workstation option

4. In the Shutdown workstations modal, confirm the workstations you wish to stop are correct and click the Stop button

5. The selected workstations will be shut down shortly

Restart workstations

Restarting a workstation will attempt to gracefully restart the workstation if the platform supports this.

1. From the list, select all the workstations you would like to restart

2. Open the Power dropdown menu

3. Select the Restart workstation option

4. In the Restart workstations modal, confirm the workstations you wish to restart are correct and click the Restart button

5. The selected workstations will be restarted shortly

Reset workstations

Sometimes an instance may not respond to graceful shutdown or restart requests. Many platforms support forcibly restarting these, sometimes referred to as a warm reboot.

1. From the list, select all the workstations you would like to restart

2. Open the Power dropdown menu

3. Select the Reset workstation option

4. In the Reset workstations modal, confirm the workstations you wish to restart are correct and click the Reset button

5. The selected workstations will be restarted shortly

Resizing workstations

Some platforms support changing the size of the workstation to provide the workstation with more CPU, memory, graphics processing power and more. Currently, the supported platforms are:

1. From the list, select all the workstations you would like to resize

2. Open the Settings dropdown menu

3. Select the Resize workstation option

4. In the Resize workstations modal, select the new instance type that you would like the workstations to be changed to.
   

   

5. Click the Resize button

6. The workstations will be resized shortly

Deleting workstations

1. From the list, select all the workstations you would like to restart

2. Open the Settings dropdown menu

3. Select the Delete workstation option

4. In the Delete workstations modal, confirm the workstations you wish to delete are correct and click the Delete button

5. The selected workstations will be deleted shortly
