Adding an announcement

  1. Login to the 7fivefive Lens application with a user that has the Administrator role or has the Access to Settings option enabled on their role.

  2. In the sidebar or navigation bar go to the Configuration option, then select the Portal item from the menu

  3. Under the Portal section, select the Announcements option

  4. Click the Add button. A modal window will appear.

  5. Make the changes you require

  6. Click the Add button

Description

Name

The name of the modal. This is displayed:

  • In the settings table

  • In the Editor Centre when using the Editor Centre: Widget location

Enabled

When checked, the announcement can be visible in Lens, depending on the visibility options.

Dismissiable

If this setting is checked, then users can dismiss the announcement. The announcement will then not be shown again for that user whilst they are using the same browser.

Message

In the markdown editor, you can create a rich message that will be displayed to users. See this page for more information about markdown.

Description

Announcement Type

This option controls the style of the announcement. Available options are: Info, Success, Warning and Error

Announcement location

This option controls where the announcement will be shown. See the list below for available options:

  • Editor Centre: Banner - Displayed as a bar at the top of the Editor Centre page

  • Editor Centre: Widget - Displayed as a selectable item in the announcement panel on the Editor Centre.

  • Login: Banner - Displayed under the login form on the login page. Please note, these announcements will be visible to the public.

  • Admin portal: Banner - This will be displayed on the main administrator dashboard at the top of the page

Sort priority

The slider controls the order of the announcements. Lower numbers will place the announcement nearer the top of the page.

Visibility

Roles

Select one or more roles that can see the announcement. If no roles are selected, then all roles can see the announcement.

Sites

Select one or more sites that can see the announcement. If no sites are selected, then all sites can see the announcement.

Visible from

The date that the announcement should be visible from. If this is not set, then the announcement will be visible immediately, until the Visible to date.

Visible to

The date that the announcement should be visible until. If this is not set, then the announcement will always be visible.
