CVE-2026-109618 & CVE-2026-109619 (PHP2Shell)

On October 20, 2026, details regarding two high-severity PHP vulnerabilities (CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619) were publicly disclosed. Patches for the vulnerabilities were released by the PHP team on October 21, 2026. 7fivefive immediately conducted a comprehensive security impact assessment and deployed proactive mitigations across all managed environments.

1. Executive Summary & Impact Analysis

  • Core Platform Security: The core 7fivefive Lens platform and its primary backend services do not run on PHP. Consequently, standard PHP runtime vulnerabilities pose zero threat to core Lens environments.

  • Auxiliary Component Scope: Potential exposure was strictly isolated to an auxiliary network speed testing module that utilises a PHP runtime environment.

  • Container Isolation & Zero Trust: The speedtest module operates as an ephemeral third-party component within a sandboxed container using zero-trust network policies with no internal connectivity. It is fully utilised, retaining no permissions or network paths to customer media stores, user databases, authentication services, or core internal APIs.

  • Risk Assessment: Due to strict container isolation, zero-privilege design, and rapid patching, at no point were customer data or sensitive infrastructure at risk of exposure or compromise.

2. Remediation & Verification Actions

  • Patch Deployment: Patches for the open-source component were made available on October 22, 2026. 7fivefive deployed remediated container builds across 100% of managed customer environments within 2 hours of the patches being validated.

Post-Deployment Auditing: Automated vulnerability scans and post-remediation verification confirmed complete mitigation, with zero remaining exposure across all production endpoints.

We can confirm that 7fivefive Lens core architecture does not rely on PHP and remains fully secure and unaffected.

3. Customer Guidance

  • No Action Required: All necessary updates and security verifications were completed by 7fivefive operations. Customer teams are not required to take any action or perform any maintenance tasks.
