PCoIP - Enabling enhanced A/V sync

Issue details

Video and audio do not seem to be synchronised when playing back video via the PCoIP software client.

Solution

Enabling the ‘Enhanced A/V sync’ mode allows PCoIP to reduce the delay between audio and video, and improves lip sync. This is done at the expense of a small latency added to user interactions and a reduction in the maximum frames per second. For the vast majority of users, this will not be noticeable. To enable this feature PCoIP software clients greater than version 19.04, follow the steps below:

Mac OS (OS X)

  1. Close the PCoIP software client

  2. Open the ‘Terminal’ application

  3. Enter the following command:

    CODE
    defaults write "com.teradici.Teradici PCoIP Client.plist" enable_enhanced_avsync 1

  4. Press enter

  5. Close the terminal window

  6. Restart the machine

  7. Open the PCoIP Software Client

  8. Connect to a desktop

  9. Go to the View menu and ensure that the Enhanced A/V Sync item is checked

Windows

  1. Close the PCoIP software client

  2. Open the file C:\%appdata%\Teradici\Teradici PCoIP Client.ini

  3. Add the following line to the file and save

    CODE
    enable_enhanced_avsync=1

  4. Restart the machine

  5. Open the PCoIP Software Client

  6. Connect to a desktop

  7. Go to the View menu and ensure that the Enhanced A/V Sync item is checked
